The COP Charter is open for Signatories from the 20 Sep 2024. This is the first step in bringing those together that want to collaborate through the COP.
Using Doughnut Economics, we are mapping and aligning a shared framework for the whole region.
Our moment in time to deliver unwavering positive change for all
With so much doom & gloom in the world, it’s easy to feel helpless and overwhelmed, this has to change! We are taking back our future and through the wonderful framework of Doughnut Economics.
Bringing together communities, organisations, councils, academia and civil society, we are creating a shared vision of a happier healthier future and charting a pathway to get there over the next 10 years, aligning existing projects and filling in any of the gaps.
Our goal is to unify and enable collective change to support what matters most to people. Building a sustainable future for us all to live, work and thrive in, through a 10-year actionable framework.Â
To keep us on course we will be Celebrating the Possible at an annual event, the third Staffordshire & Stoke-On-Trent COP Conference 2026 taking place 6 March 2026
SIGN THE COP CHARTER
The COP Charter is a public commitment to collaborative climate action across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. By signing the Charter, organisations and individuals signal their support for a shared, place-based approach to tackling the climate and ecological emergency. It provides a clear statement of intent to work together towards a more sustainable, resilient future — recognising that meaningful progress depends on cooperation at all levels.Â
Signatories are invited to be part of an evolving network focused on practical action, knowledge-sharing, and long-term impact.
NEWS & EVENTS
Starting a movement like this is ambitious, so we need some structured core elements to make things happen.
Collate and monitor a climate baseline and Local Determined Contributions (LDCs) using the Portrait of Place, enabling transparent, place-based climate accountability. This will be shared as a dynamic report, with the first version set to launch in Sept 2025 at the Climate Expo.Â
Map and align action plans to support consistency and identify gaps across local strategies, using the OnePlanet dashboard. We have applied for funding to subsidise this activity to ensure all can access the system without barriers.Â
Coordinate sustainability efforts county-wide, spotting opportunities to scale, connect, or strengthen initiatives, plus provide training a share knowledge to help support the regions activities
Engage and inspire through inclusive communications, events, and storytelling that reaches across society, sectors, and influencers.
Think of it as a compass for human prosperity in the 21st century, with the aim of meeting the needs of all people within the means of the living planet.
The Doughnut consists of two concentric rings: a social foundation, to ensure that no one is left falling short on life’s essentials, and an ecological ceiling, to ensure that humanity does not collectively overshoot the planetary boundaries that protect Earth’s life-supporting systems. Between these two sets of boundaries lies a doughnut-shaped space that is both ecologically safe and socially just: a space in which humanity can thrive.
The Doughnut is the core concept at the heart of Doughnut Economics.Â
